Vanishing
Mist "2008" (Sadetar Records)
This is the third
solo offering by Sal, and it shows some of the most radical growth
in Sal's writing and arranging palette to date. For Sal, it's
not just about planting a melody line against a few clever chord
changes and odd-time signatures. Far beyond that, Sal has really
deeply considered all his sonic and textural resources and found
very creative ways for them to interact with one another, much
the way a great composer/orchestrator like Duke Ellington or Gil
Evans would, but in this case, with an entirely different mindset
and vocabulary.
Personnel includes:
Sal DiFusco - Guitar
Dino Govon - Tenor Sax
Mike Mangini - Drums
Joe Santerre - Bass
Eguie Castrillo - Percussion
Daniel McClain - Voice
Jordan Orvosh - Keyboards
Casey Schereuerell - Drums
Produced by: Sal DiFusco
Engineers include: Jon Chase, Sal DiFusco
Principally recorded
at Chase productions and Sadetar Studios.

Great
Exploits "2002" (Sadetar Records)
In a world increasingly
populated by "fast guitar shredders" who start to sound
indistinguishable after a while, it's refreshing to hear something
like Boston-based guitarist Sal DiFusco's Great Exploits that
dares to do something a bit different. Each song carries beautifully
crafted melody lines that cannot be ignored. Better still, the
sequence of tunes moves at a brisk pace, there is never a dull
or snoozy moment to be found.
Personnel includes:
Sal DiFusco - Guitar
Mike Mangini - Drums
Joe Santerre - Bass
Pat Loomis - Alto Sax
Produced, Engineered
Mixed and Mastered by Tom Waltz at Waltz Audio Boston, Mass.

Nevertheless
"2000" (Sadetar Records)
With the release
of Nevertheless, Boston-based guitar instrumentalist Sal DiFusco
establishes himself as a vital new force on the post 90's electric
guitar scene. Acknowledging the influences that both Jeff Beck
and Al Dimeola have on his own work. DiFusco takes flight with
a number of fine, original, melodic guitar instrumentals that
ignite and soar at the same time. The album features excellent
support players such as Mike Mangini (ex-Steve Vai) on drums and
Joe Santerre (bass) while the addition of Sal's wife Jen DiFusco,
who adds spoken word vocals on two tracks, is reminiscent of Anette
Peacock's on the first Bill Bruford solo album. Clearly mixing
the melodic savvy of Euro-rock guitar great Jan Akkerman with
the high tech wizardry of say Allan Holdsworth. DiFusco comes
up with an innovative new sound. A spirited CD filled with DiFusco's
spectacular electric guitar pyrotechnics, Nevertheless sizzles
from start to finish.
Personnel includes:
Sal DiFusco - Guitar
Mike Mangini - Drums
Joe Santerre - Bass
Casey Schereuerell - Drums
Keith Reed - Keyboards
Paul Stiller - Keyboards
Dan Foote - Percussion
Jen DiFusco - Voice

Mixed and Mastered by Tom Waltz at Waltz Audio Boston, Mass.

Boston Jazz
Anthology #1 1995 (Vee Records)
This collection represents a polished
version of the Boston jazz scene. A wide variety of jazz styles
are represented, from vocal to bop to fusion. The anthology does
seem to focus on the most commercial, derivative bands in Boston
-- every song seems to mimic the style of some great of jazz history
instead of charting out new directions, but the result is a very
listenable, radio-friendly collection that has something to appeal
to everyone.
