A great source of joy for me is to explore different elements and
areas of the music profession. Since I began teaching at Berklee there
has been several personal projects I have been involved in and completed
in service to the profession.
1) July 2000 It was a pleasure to
write and record my first Solo CD entitled "Nevertheless"
I spent close to a year writing the material and 6 months recording
it. The recording was produced by Berklee graduate Tom Waltz and
recorded in his state-of-the-art multi-track recording studio Waltzaudio.
The musicians on the project were faculty members Mike Mangini,
Joseph Santerre, Paul Stiller and Dan Foote. This CD has been selling
very well world wide through the distribution of Discipleship Publication
International, CD Freedom and Audiophiles.com.
With the recording of my first CD, I created
an independent record company called Sadetar Records and publishing
company called Giamar Music of which I am both founder and president.
All my music is copy written through the Library of Congress and
my music is registered through ASCAP.
2) July 2002 This is when
I completed my 2nd Solo effort entitled "Great Exploits"
It took the same amount of time writing and recording as the first
CD and included performers Mike Mangini, Joe Santerre and Pat Loomis.
This CD was also recorded at Waltzaudio. I experimented with music
synthesis and recorded all of the keyboard parts along with all
the guitar parts on the record. This record is currently selling
very well worldwide.
It has been exciting to take my music all over
the world with performances in France, Hungary, Albania, Russia,
New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and of course Boston.
3) Jan 2000 Under the name
of my record company Sadetar Records, I built a recording studio
in my home in Medford, Ma. I recorded pre-production material for
both my CD's there. I have recently upgraded the studio with the
latest state-of-the-art Pro-Tools equipment. Since then I have recorded
several artist projects including the Cafarella Brothers vocal duet,
the Leif Manheim Project, Folk artist Lyn Ketterer, Jazz guitarist
Dane Bedward, and the alternative rock group Falling North. I also
use the studio to help out students in their learning of the art
of recording.
4) April 2003 I started an
eight-piece general business R&B group called "Radiance".
I have used the best musicians Boston has to offer including faculty
members Wayne Naus, Joe Santerre, Russ Hoffmann, graduates Danny
McClain (featured artist of the 2003-2004 Singers Showcase) Marianne
Thompson, and Boston greats Pat Loomis and Tom Foote. In it's first
year the band booked 40 gigs and is quickly becoming one of the
most in-demand groups in the New England area.
5) April 2004 I started a
nine-piece general business group called "FreeStyle" of
which I am the manager and administrator. The performers include
faculty members Joe Musella, graduates Brad Harbidge, Ervin Dhimo,
Boston greats Chops Turner, Walter Platt, Oren Malka and students
Sheleah Martin and Ian Gollub. This super group has recently started
booking high-end functions in the New England area for the rest
of this year and into 2005.
It has been incredibly rewarding creating these
groups. I enjoy very much the task of artist development, administration
and organization and of course performing. The joy is in seeing
these groups become successful, as I am able to help put musicians
to work in the field.
6) Sept 2003 Along with the
web design company ESCOTTO.NET I created a very professional website
at the address SALDIFUSCO.COM. This website hosts several pages
promoting me as an educator, recording artist, studio producer and
engineer, and bandleader. Also included are band schedules, my personal
discography and links to purchase my CD's.
As I stated earlier, I believe what will make
me a great asset to the College as an Associate Professor is my
level of experience in the Music profession. My expertise in so
many areas of the business helps me to really provide a multi-dimensional
learning experience for the students. My depth of understanding
of many aspects of the Music Business helps students too not only
acquire information, but to also be inspired by an individual who
is currently working it outside of the walls of the College. I believe
it has been very helpful for the students, as I have shared with
them the many aspects of the profession and inspired them with ideas
and advice pertaining to their own career in the profession.
